The new Machinery Directive MD (2006/42/EC) has been enforced between EU member states since December 29, 2009, and the Machinery Directive has the same effect as the law in EU member states. According to the Machinery Directive, mechanical products that do not comply with the Machinery Directive and related safety standards will not be sold to EU countries, and the new safety circuit standard EN ISO 13849-1 2008 (Safety of machinery – Safety related parts of control systems) emphasizes the safety requirements of mechanical hardware circuits. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to establish a reliability model of the safety system of the machine tool based on the international safety standards related to mechanical safety, through literature search, definition of the failure rate of the parts and maintenance conditions of the CNC lathe. Calculate with relevant reliability data to explore how to find the best reliability model and parts replacement cycle, and hope that the results of this research can be applied to the design and maintenance of machine tool safety systems in the future.
