The purpose of this study is to explore the promotion of teachers' professional development thanks to school volunteers. The target group involved in the paper are those who have continued to work and volunteered for a long time in Malin Elementary School.
The paper focuses on school volunteers' motivation and background experience in relation to overall operation of the school, the professional development of teachers, and the effectiveness of students' academic results. The case study applied semi-structured in-depth discussion, collecting data continuously through physical participation observation, in-depth interviews, document analysis, and researcher’s observations and notes. After considerable analysis, induction, and Deliberation on related literature, the author has found the following:
Ⅰ School volunteers gain a sense of belongingness and accomplishment from participating in volunteering service.
Before becoming school volunteers, most of volunteers are already members of Blisswisdom education. For non members, they also agree with the philosophy of Blisswisdom. Hence, school volunteers and school staff have mutual beliefs and values. During volunteering service, they can explore knowledge humbly, and it is easy to reach consensus when dealing with others, gaining a sense of belongingness and a sense of accomplishment.
Ⅱ School volunteers participating in volunteer services can help the overall operation of the school
As school volunteers possess different professional abilities, in particular with regards to the school's experimental courses, teachers’ teaching, school activities and school’s environment etc., if they can contribute to their desirable area, it will have a great impact on the overall operation of the school.
Ⅲ School volunteers promote the professional development of teachers and the learning outcomes of students
1 curriculum teaching volunteers: they are professional teachers and familiarise themselves with the curriculum guidelines of 12-year Basic education curriculum and experimental education concepts. The teacher can guide the school teachers to carry out curriculum development and direct public teaching and other learning and growth.
2 The knowledge of agricultural volunteers and ecological volunteers assisting school teachers in practical teaching and assist alongside with teachers to provide an in depth practical teaching and raise their teaching skills.
3 Book volunteers enhance the school teachers' teaching to be more vividly and diversely.
IV school volunteers' self-cultivation, communication skills, interpersonal skills can become the model for students and become a model so that school teachers can inspire students to act alike.
Finally, by concluding this research, some relevant suggestions are provided as reference for school and school volunteers in which further studies can be embarked on promotion of the professional development of teachers.
