Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 水產養殖學系 === 107 === Tilapia is not only a major aquaculture species but also a popular export fish in Taiwan. However, the development of aquaculture technology in the world has made considerable impacts and decreased the output exports of Taiwan. On the other hand, beside the consumers’ demands of tilapia products, the increasing trade demands of the government in Taiwan has fostered the farmers to apply aquaculture certification, and try to expand the sales of tilapia to the Europe and other markets in the word. Therefore, this research applied multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), revealed comparative advantage index(RCA)and welfare economics to assess the economic aspects, export competitiveness as well as optimal farming scale, with the aim of improving economic efficiency of tilapia industry and maintaining the sustainable aquaculture development of Taiwan.
The results of MANOVA, according to culture certification factor, showed that there were significant differences in all variables including biological, input cost and profitability variables. Espesically, farms with aquaculture certification in Tianan got the best profit; however, no significant difference was noted for all variables according to farming location. The Cobb-Douglas function results showed that the fry, feed, part time labor and other costs were considered to have significant effects on the revenues obtained by tilapia farms. The RCA results showed that Tilapia export competitiveness has gradually reduced from 2006-2016. Therefore, multiple regression was used to simulate the best supply and demand for tilapia market. Accordingly, the tilapia production volume should be remained or reduced to achieve sustainable development.
