Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 設計學系 === 107 === "Folk Stories" are stories handed down from generation to generation by the people of a nation through oral transmission and adaptation of the then local stories. They carry the wisdom, education and entertainment of ancestors, and even served as a window for people at that time to express their innermost thoughts or feelings, and thus possess cultural values and meanings.
This creation research aspires to continue to promote and pass on these orally transmitted stories and culture of common people in a new manner. Therefore, an investigation and study are conducted on Taiwanese folk stories, seeking to understand their characteristic elements and methods of classification through documentary analysis. Together with sorting out the key points of story-driven game character design, it analyzes successful cases at home and abroad, and explores the contents and implications of the creation of game characters, in order to understand the methods and modes of story-driven character selection. It then proceeds to screen and adapt Taiwanese folk stories and extract the design elements from copywriting, which is followed by designing the game characters for Taiwanese folk stories with reference to the design concepts and principles of game character design.
With respect to practical creation, through computer graphics, and the use of the key points and methods of game character design, the characters in Taiwanese folk stories are visualized through artistic and design techniques. This study hopes to arouse people's interests in their own stories culture with this new medium and presentation method, so that they will go a step further to look for more contents meanings of greater depth.
