From time to time, we still hear demands for equality between men and women. This reflects the fact that, in reality, they are not yet equal. This creative study is based on issues that modern women face, in the hope that women can consciously fight for their own rights and use their potential to achieve self-fulfillment. The United Nations has also included the improvement of gender equality in its report as an important goal for the world to develop in a sustainable and harmonious manner. This study combines the urgent matters in the report with modern gender issues. Its perspective expands from the individual to society and culture, and divides the issues into three major categories: “threats of violence,” “equality in the workplace,” and “traditional customs.” According to a World Health Organization report, nearly one-third of women worldwide have experienced threats of sexual violence during their lifetimes, and many incidents are even life-threatening. Female labor force participation has exceeded 50%, but women’s salaries are still lower than those of men, and many workplaces need improvements in areas that are not women-friendly. Various traditional cultures restrict women in different ways, some of which may even hinder their health and life development. This study summarizes the phenomena and causes of the issues above and analyzes the designs of modern posters on women’s rights, to understand how contemporary designers recognize the issues that women face in society and the vocabulary they use in their creative work. The results are presented in the form of posters, with five works of “threats of violence” series;four works of “equality in the workplace” series;four works of “traditional customs” series. These works aim at prompting the viewers to reflect upon themselves and others. If we begin changing ourselves to embrace gender equality and mutual respect, our society will become a much better place. Shih, Ling-Hung 施令紅 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 101 zh-TW
