Your feet is the foundation of the body. Most foot problems come from great impacts on the human body. They affect not only bone structures, but also the organs. Information about the foot can be obtained through foot-pressure and arch-index. Usually, foot walking balance problem can be diagnosed through foot-pressure, and foot bone structure can be examined through arch-index. At present, pressure pads are used to measure the distribution of plantar pressure on the market. However, the price of pressure pad is over several hundred thousand NT dollars. It is too expensive for general self-detection equipment. Moreover, the pads cannot calculate the arch index together. Therefore professionals are required for the operation on the equipment and analyze the data. These are major obstacle of implementation of general foot self-detection. The purpose of this paper is to develop a foot health system, to scan the planter image, to quickly calculate the arch-index and foot pressure distribution. The system is economical with acceptable accuracy and therefore would be used widely. This system combines hardware and software. The work area is 78cmx54cm and obtains 1200dpi image only in 10 seconds. Self-made software analyzes and calculates the plantar image, obtains foot information such as arch index and plantar pressure distribution. Users are able to analyze through plantar pressure distribution for understanding their own body balance problem and arch index to check their own foot skeletal structure problems. The price of this system is less than one-tenth of the pressure pad on the market. The measuring device provides the general public and patients a system which is designed for foot self-detection.
