Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 教育學系課程與教學碩博士班 === 107 === The purpose of the study was to explore the effects of applying English picture books to enhance English core competencies, using the spontaneity to be the core dimension. And an action research method had been adopted for the study. Within the research, the researcher could find out the students’ opinions through the processing of English picture books learning and be able to improve the ability of problem-solving and curriculum-designing. The action research lasted for four weeks, two periods a week. And the participants in this research were twelve students of fourth graders in Xuejia Dist., Tainan City. The data, such as observation in class by researcher and co-researcher, self-evaluation and worksheets by students and interviews, had been analyzed with qualitative analysis. The results of the research had been summarized as follows: 1. Applying English picture books to English core competencies could help teachers set the instruction objectives and issues of significance, developing lectures into cultivating students’ multiple learning strategies. 2. Applying English picture books to English core competencies could help students enhance the spontaneity and integrate the cognitive domain, affective domain and psychomotor domain. 3. Applying English picture books to English core competencies could help teachers do curriculum adjustment within different students and situation.
