Abstract
The purpose of this research is applying E-Textbook to improve learning motivation and achievement of English teaching in elementary school senior grade students, discover the problems and possible solutions, as well as self-reflection and professional growth of the researcher. The research subjects were 21 fifth-grade elementary school students in Taichung city. This E-textbook English instruction lasted for thirty weeks, 80 minutes per week. This study adopted the action research approach, and analyzed students’ learning performance through observing, interviewing, teacher reflection notes, questionnaires, and the data of students’ English learning performance collected in the midterm and final tests, to understand whether students’ English learning motivation and achievement are improved.
The research finds as the following conclusion:
1.The teaching activities of applying E-Textbook in English instruction includes vocabulary, sentence pattern, dialogue and phonics teaching.
2.Applying E-Textbook to Elementary School Senior Grade Students can improve students’ English learning motivation.
3.Applying E-Textbook to Elementary School Senior Grade Students can improve low-achieved students’ English learning achievement.
4. Apply multi-functions of E-textbook flexibly and properly can improve teaching.
5.To improve learning efficacy, films should be filtered, adjusted and related to students’ learning in the course.
Finally, there are three suggestions about applying E-textbook in elementary English teaching for relevant teaching and researchers:
1.To maintain student’s learning motivation, teachers’ teaching materials and teaching activities should be improved and adjusted flexibly.
2.Teachers should master the advantages in every teaching materials and design teaching activities properly based on students’ abilities and interests.
