Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 教師專業碩士學位學程 === 107 === The purpose of this action research was to understand the students' learning process and performances by implementing Guided Writing instruction combined with inspirational quotes, and to promote writing competency of fourth graders in an elementary school. The participants were 29 fourth-grade students in Happy Elementary School in Taichung City. This research was conducted twice a week, 40 minutes per period, and a total of 13 weeks. In addition, the researcher analyzed and concluded the collected data such as worksheets, writing performances, students' learning feedbacks, teaching reflection notes, teaching videos, class observation and unstructured interviews recordings to further understand the student's learning process and performances. The conclusions of the study were summarized as follows:
1. Guided Writing instruction combined with inspirational quotes was implemented by three learning activities: warm up, writing practice and extended activities. Researcher took three-stage teaching involving “ Imitation Writing, Expansion Writing, Continue Writing, and Applied Writing” and summed up three difficulties during the research; then proposed some strategies to solve them.
2. The student's writing competency can be promoted through Guided Writing instruction combined with inspirational quotes.
3. Implementing Guided Writing Instruction combined with inspirational quotes makes researcher understand more about the curriculum design and teaching methods for cultivating students' writing competency.
