To efficiently utilize PV power, the LED driver employs a partial power regulator (PPR) for tracking the maximum power point (MPP) and simultaneously matching the dimming feature at the sunny daytime. An auxiliary power source with a bidirectional buck/boost power converter is required for storing the excessive power or compensating the insufficient power generated from the PV panel. A capacitor is interposed between two power converters as an intermediate energy buffer for regulating the LED current. A laboratory LED driver with a 54-W PV panel is designed for a 40-W warning-light formed by 36 LEDs. Experimental results have demonstrated that the LED driver can perform the dimming control of the warning-light and at the same time accomplish the MPP tracking of the PV panel in a wide operation region. A high efficiency can be achieved by processing a small part of the generated PV power with partial power regulation. A highest power conversion efficiency of 97.3 % happens when the requested LED power is totally provided by the PV panel. The worst efficiency is 84.6 % when the PV panel is not able to produce any power. Chin-Sien Moo 莫清賢 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 69 zh-TW
