Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 教育研究所 === 107 === Today, people around the world are challenged by similar environmental issues. Environmental education becomes increasingly imperative and teachers play an important role as the facilitators. The purpose of this study is to investigate teachers’ knowledge and attitudes toward sustainable development, risk argument, and air pollution, and their behavior of air pollution prevention. The study conducted a stratified purposeful sampling method, which divided the Kaohsiung City public and private elementary schools, junior and senior high schools into three zones according to their distance from the industrial parks, namely within 1 km, 1 to 5 km and 5 to 10 km. A total of 686 valid surveys were collected. Descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, single-factor variance analysis, and Pearson product difference correlation were conducted to analyze the data. The study found that the teachers in Kaohsiung City believe that the government and industry are more influential than people in ensuring sustainable development, and the government should bear the greatest responsibility for improving the environment. In regards to the issue of air pollution, most teachers possess the precautionary and pros and cons arguments. The teachers also demonstrate a basic understanding of PM2.5 and believe that people’s influence on environmental policy is limited and rely mostly on other environmental actions to improve the air pollution. The results of this study provide implications for air pollution prevention courses or programs in schools.
