| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 政治學研究所 === 107 === The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) established in 1967. Nowadays this regional organization becomes the main player to promote regional integration. However, in this region with diverse ethnic, languages and cultures ASEAN faces many challenges to form a regional identity. This research is based on Constructivism to analysis the evolution of ASEAN identity and how ASEAN do to realize the idea of collective identity. The are many sources formed the ASEAN identity. The change of international society and the interactions between ASEAN members and other countries or international organizations also impact the idea and identities of ASEAN and how do they act with others. The ASEAN Charter and the achievement of ASEAN community are the milestone of the process to realize the ASEAN identity. It shows ASEAN aware the ASEAN identity is and will be important for ASEAN integration.
