Case of Research Our Country Power Lifter Contestant Profession Development-Take World Champion Hsieh, Tsung-Ting the Contestant as an Example

碩士 === 國立屏東大學 === 體育學系碩士班 === 107 === 　　Taiwan Weightlifting and Powerlifting has always had great results from International Championships. Winning a total of 3 Gold 2 Silver 2 Bronze Medals in Olympic Weightlifting from the Olympic Games and 3 Gold 5 Silver 8 Bronze Medals in Powerlifting from the World games. Due to relatively low public awareness and poor government support for non-Olympic Games and Asian Games sporting disciplines, maybe professional powerlifters are unable to build a career in the field of powerlifting after retiring from professional competitions. 　　In this research, we look into the social, competition, and employment aspects of a powerlifter’s life and discuss with our subject, his plans for future developments. This research is a case-study utilizing personal interviews and official websites of international sporting organization as methods for data collection. The Subject was asked a series of question on personal training methods, training history, competition experiences, competition history, employment history and opinions relevant matters regarding to our research. It is found that Hsieh values family life as the central aspect of his social life; Every competition is a valuable experience to learn more about the sport and about life; He is satisfied with his current job as a head trainer of a commercial gym; He believe government fundings are unfairly distributed amongst different sports based on its inclusion or exclusion from major international multisport events; And a heavier emphasis should be placed on the personal and career development of athletes and coaches. 　　In conclusion; the wider society, family, coaches and fellow athletes, each contribute to a valuable unique form of material, financial and mental support for an athlete; It is essential during an athlete’s development to build up confidence, self esteem and valuable experiences from attending as much competitions as possible; While financial and job security will prevent premature shorting of an athlete’s sporting career.
