Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東大學 === 特殊教育學系碩士班 === 107 === The purpose of this study was to understand the background of the special education assistants in the senior secondary schools in Kaohsiung City, to explore their work values and satisfaction, and to analyze the working values and satisfaction cluster characteristics. A questionnaire survey is conducted in this study. A total of 222 useful responses (N = 222) from special education assistants in Kaohsiung were collected using measures of self-developed “Work Values and Job Satisfaction Questionnaire for Special Education Assistants”. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, two-stage cluster analysis and chi-square test. The findings were as follows: (1) most special education assistants in Kaohsiung have specific background trend. Most of them are 41 to 50 years old married women, graduated from colleges and universities non-related departments. Most of the seniority is 3 years (inclusive) or less, and the working hours is less than 20 hours (inclusive). The reason for the job is the ideal interest, but not the main source of income for the family. (2) Most special education assistants showed medium-to-high level of work values, and the highest is the social interaction orientation. (3) Most special education assistants showed medium-to-high level of job satisfaction, and the work environment satisfaction is the highest. (4) The results of cluster analysis showed two type among special education assistants, which were low recognition/ satisfaction and high recognition/ satisfaction. There are significant difference on age between the two clusters.
