| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄科技大學 === 國際管理碩士學位學程 === 107 === The importance of higher education internationalization has been growing due to challenges derived from globalization. It brings about an increasing interdependence and interconnection among countries. While the issue has been becoming more influential for higher education institutions all around the world, a large number of those in Thailand are unconscious of the significance of attaining English proficiency and adopting internationally standardized curricula.
This research examined attitudes towards the internationalization of higher education by Thai professors across the top five universities within Thailand. Perceptions towards the receptiveness and value of the internationalization of higher education, as well as the priority of goals for internationalization incorporating the most effective strategies in the Thai context were investigated.
The findings of this research revealed that Thai professors considered the internationalization of higher education as the universities' responsibility in order to respond to the borderless and knowledge-based society. The results also presented an emphasis on the goal of improving teaching quality, which could be effectively achieved through integrating international knowledge into a curriculum and encouraging teachers to participate in international education. Although attaining an academic goal was the primary motive behind internationalizing, university reputations and the Thai international profile have become increasingly dominant, particularly in modern Thai society. Along with a discussion of the results, suggestions for better practice and further study are provided.
