The purpose of the study is to assess the correlation between fiscal and socioeconomic factors and GFR in Taiwan. The empirical study estimates the panel dataset of 20 local governments in Taiwan from the year of 2002 to 2017. The empirical results show that female labor force participation rate, unemployment rate, disposable income, and criminal cases are negatively correlated to GFR; meanwhile, local government’s education expenditure and homeownership ratio are positively correlated. Based on these findings, this study suggests the government to generate job opportunities, reduce the unemployment, increase the expenditure on education science and culture, and implement social housing and public housing to raise the GFR.
