There are many types of water pumps on the market, among which centrifugal pumps are the most common, centrifugal pumps are widely used, in addition to industrial applications, they are also widely used in agricultural irrigation, municipal water supply, power station circulating water supply, vehicle cooling system, urban pollution treatment. In recent years, the rise of environmental awareness, electric vehicles have become the development trend of today and in the future. Unlike vehicles that were previously powered by internal combustion engines, electric cars rely on the motor to provide power, whether it is the internal combustion engine vehicles or electric vehicles, both of them need to use water pump to deliver water for achieve the purpose of cooling, the size of the water pump and the vane is also the key to directly affect the water delivery and heat dissipation, however, due to the structure of the vehicle, the space is easily restricted. Therefore, how to develop a water pump that meets the functional requirements of customers in a limited space is an important issue in product design.
In this study, the vehicle water pump is taken as an example, firstly, the key elements and technical contradictions of the design are identified through QFD, then the ISQ Innovation Situation Questionnaire is used to clearly describe the problem, finally, used the TRIZ tools to solve the technical contradiction, and after product redesign, supplemented by CFD software for performance simulation. To verify that the design results meet the customers needs. The method and process of this research can be used as a reference for future research, and can also be used as a standard for the companys product design improvement process, it is expected to help shorten product development time, reduce development costs, and improve product listing efficiency.
