Nowadays companies value proactivity of employees beyond all things. According to past studies, the attitude and behavior of employees will be affected by leaders if they lead theirs workers authentically. With respect to facilitating proactive behavior of employees, this study considers empathy to be an important mechanism. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the relationship among authentic leadership, empathy and proactive behavior. Furthermore, the mediating effect of empathy between authentic leadership and proactive behavior is also investigated. This sample of this study was incumbents from various industries. Data were collected through paper and online questionnaire. A total of 500 questionnaires were distributed and 432 valid ones were returned. The valid return rate is 93.3%. This study examined hypotheses via hierarchical regression analysis and bootstrap method. Following are the research results: 1.Authentic leadership has a positive impact on proactive behavior. 2.Authentic leadership has a positive impact on empathy. 3.Empathy has a positive impact on proactive behavior. 4.Empathy has partial mediation effect on the relationship of authentic leadership and proactive behavior.
