There were 51 subjects aged 11-12(21 boys and 30 girls)participated in this study. They wore pedometers for 4 straight school days to measure physical activity. Relationship between physical activity and body mass index (BMI) were analyzed by One-way Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA). The association between the physical activity level and BMI were analyzed by Pearson product-moment correlation. Results showed that: 1.The average of daily steps of sixth grade students are 10,865 ± 3,705 steps/day(11,678 ± 4,262 steps/day and 10,296 ± 3,213 steps/day, for boys and girls, respectively). 2.Different groups of BMI and physical activity were significantly different; the normal BMI group have significant higher physical activity level than the overweight and obese group (11,915 ± 4,279 vs 8,624 ± 3,375 steps/day, p =.01). 3.The physical activity level had negative correlation with the body mass index (r =-.340,p<.05).We conclude that: 1.The physical activity level of sixth grade students in the primary school is lower than what is recommended. 2.The BMI of higher physical activity level is significantly lower than that of lower physical activity level.3. Body Mass Index had negative correlation with physical activity level. Ray-Tai Chang 張瑞泰 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 76 zh-TW
