The purposes of the study are understanding and analyzing: 1. the perception on the existing condition of aesthetic literacy and the cultural activities they involved in Kaohsiung. 2. the difference of aesthetic literacy and the cultural activities they involved in on the different background variables for senior high school students in Kaohsiung. 3. the correlation of aesthetic literacy, and the cultural activities on the senior high school students in Kaohsiung. To achieve the above objectives, first, the study conducts literature review to construct the framework of the study. Second, it adopts the methods of questionnaire surveys with the senior grade elementary students in Taichung city as the parent population. Using the questionnaire, the study focuses on 550 students from 27 schools in Taichung city through a random sampling for questionnaire survey in 2019. The total number of recorded questionnaires are 534 and the return rate of recovery reaches 97.09% . Among them, 519 valid questionaires are recorded, resulting in 97.19% effective return rate. Based on the analysis results, the study obtains the conclusions as follows: 1. Senior high school students have decent level of understanding of the aesthetic literacy. They believe that art makes life better and improves the life quality. 2. Personal interest plays an important role in the motivation of involving in cultural activities. Students are interested in modern pop music and movies the most, and the main sources of information they get are through television, radio, and other media. 3. Generally, the Art students have better aesthetic literacy than those in normal classes. Besides, students need to be supported and guided from others about aesthetic beauty. 4. Girls have higher motivation to participate in art and cultural activities than boys. Besdies, the higher grade students have the higher motivation to participate in arts and cultural activities. Furthermore, students with more pocket money are willing to spend more on art activities. 5. The senior high students whose perception on the aesthetic literacy and engagement in cultural activities are positively and highly correlated.
