Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 教育學系 === 107 === This study aims at exploring the Hope, Meaning of Life and Adaptation to School for college students with disabilities. Subjects of this study are college students with disabilities; copies of questionnaires were given to the above-mentioned subjects. Stratified Sampling Scheme was applied. Applied Quantitative Analyses include Descriptive Statistics, One-way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Analysis and Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis. Regarding contestants’ responses to the questionnaire, the conclusions implied by statistical results are stated as follows:
1.Performances of college students with disabilities were in the mid-upper level in aspects of Hope, Meaning of Life, and Adaptation to School. Aspects of Expected Targets, Meaning of Life and Learning Adaptation showed better performances. Levels of Will of Hope, Will of the Pursuit of Meaning and Self-acceptance are relatively lower.
2.“Experience of joining different clubs” was a factor that made a significant difference on the Hope of college students with disabilities. Performances of the ones who attended service-centered clubs were significantly superior to the ones who did not participate in clubs with similar purposes.
3.Most female college students with disabilities were significantly superior to males in aspect of Meaning of Life. With “experiences of joining different clubs,” subjects who attended clubs with the purpose of service were significantly more outstanding than the ones who did not participate in student clubs with similar purposes.
4.Most female college students with disabilities were significantly superior to males in aspect of Adaptation to School. Subjects showed a significant difference in aspect of “different categories of handicap.” Students with intellectual disability were more noticeably exceptional than the ones with either emotional disorders or autism. Students of the subsequent seven categories, including intellectual disability, visual impairment, hearing impairment, physical disability, cerebral palsy, learning disorder and health impairment, obtained scores noticeably higher than students with autism. Students with disabilities showed a significant difference in aspect of “different club experiences.” Students who attended service-centered clubs performed significantly better than the ones with either non-experienced of attending service-centered clubs or non-experienced of attending any clubs.
5.Significant positive correlations exist among the Hope, Meaning of Life and Adaptation to School for college students with either mental or physical disabilities.
6.Both Hope and Meaning of Life for college students with disabilities were highly predictable to Integral Adaptation to School, which can explain 69% of the total variance of Integral School Adaptation. The most major predictable variance is Meaning of Life’s 63% on the Total Variance Explained of Integral School Adaptation.
In conclusion, the researcher expects the study findings can be applied for future studies of the counseling for college students with either mental or physical disorders, administration of education and other related future studies.
