碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 跨領域藝術研究所 === 107 === For the current operation mode of park construction, it is administered directly or entrusted for planning, design and building by the government department, and then people have the utility when completion. During the process of construction, people are not directly involved in, which may attribute to the relatively inadequate care about the users. It is required to encourage people to engage in the process, and to pay more attention on the needs of different users. This study aims at art as action by community engagement, taking the Dormitory Park of the Fourth Naval Yard at Chijin as an example to explore the residents’ thoughts on the transformation of the public land into the community park, as well as on the park greening and facility needs. Through the surveys and the researches, such as field work, interview analysis, literature reviews, and the theoretic framework of art as action and art as environment, this study explores the social exchange learning process of community engagement in the event " Afternoon tea at Chijin’s kitchen café", during which the residents are to develop a blueprint for the new community park, as well as to practice the "Planting Tree in Green Park Action". For the first step, we improved the public land in the community and take it as an alternative park. Further, through the finance aids from the community office and the government department, we collaborate to set up the squares, garden lights, tree planting and other facilities, and recruit the volunteer team for daily maintenance to enhance the quality of the living environment in the old community. The above processes and results of the art activities in the Dormitory Park of the Fourth Naval Yard significantly improves and develops the new social publicity, citizen awareness, community culture and aesthetic environment in the neighborhood. This case study can be the example and the reference for development and improvement of vacant land transforming into parks, as well as the art involved in the community park.
