Summary: | 碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 教育行政與管理學系 === 107 === This case study was to investigate the key successful factors of school remedial teaching, also to find the difficulties and barriers of conducting remedial teaching in Sun Elementary School in Hualien County. Sun Elementary School had been fruitful in its remedial teaching. The author therefore looked deeply into remedial teaching in Elementary School to discover innovative and effective approaches for remedial intervention in Taiwan. Schools in all regions might take this research as a reference to enhance their remedial education.
The purpose of this study were to: 1) investigate the remedial teaching concepts of Sun Elementary School; 2) analyze key factors in successful remedial teaching of this school; 3) investigate issues and problems involved in its remedial education; 4) review the effect of remedial teaching in this school.
The methodologies used in this research were document analysis” and interview survey. The six interviewees involved in this research were the remedial education teaching team of Sun Elementary School, which included: the remedial education specialist, Sun Elementary School principle, the dean of academic affairs, remediation teacher, students, and parents.
The conclusions of the reached were as followings: 1) Sun Elementary School held beliefs of equality of educational opportunity and the mission to improve academic ability. 2) The key factors that led to successful remedial education were proper guidance from school principal, effective instructions from remediation teachers, establishment of administration system, and practical lesson planning. 3) The functions of school were to set clear goal, integrate administration and teaching system, and individualized lesson plans. 4) It was crucial to care for students in remedial programs and solved their physical and psychological problems. With assistance, students could rebuild confidence and regain their joy of learning.
Based on the research findings, the conclusions and suggestions were made for education authorities, teachers, remedial teachers and future researchers.
