Different exercise items have significantly different effects on children’s bone mineral density (BMD). The BMD of the children who do weight bearing exercise is significantly higher than those who do non-weight bearing exercise. The current research was conducted to examine the effects of continuous and discontinuous jump rope exercise on children’s BMD. Senior grade students (N=58) formed three groups, two experiment groups and one control group, to attend a 12-week experiment. The two experiment groups conducted the jumping exercise 5 times a week and 600 jumps for each time. The continuous experiment group (N=18) completed the jumping exercise in two sessions, that is, 300 jumps for each session; while the discontinuous experiment group (N=19) accomplished 600 jumps in a row. The control group didn’t do any exercise. The BMD of participants’ calcaneus was measured by Ultrasonic Bone Densitometer before and after the exercise, and SPSS for Windows 20.0 was used for independent sample t test and ANOVA to analyze the collected data. According to the statistics obtained from the current research, the bone mineral density of experiment group calcaneus is significantly different from that of control group (p < 0.05), but there is no remarkable difference between the results of the continuous and discontinuous group. The results of the current research are as follow: 1. Continuous exercise and discontinuous exercise can increase the bone mineral density. 2. While continuous and discontinuous exercise can increase the BMD, the effects of continuous exercise is better. Key Words: Discontinuous exercise, Continuous exercise, Jumping, Bone mineral density Fu-Shih Chen 陳福士 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 33 zh-TW
