A green, heartful network: Rhizomic theory in the study of horticultural healing

碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 諮商與臨床心理學系 === 107 === The purpose of this study was to identify the connotation of the interaction between individuals and plants, and tried to understand the becoming of healing experience from plants and the courses of meaning development. The researcher adopted the rhizomic theory developed by Deleuze and Guattari as the research structure. Through in-depth interview, three horticultural experienced participants were invited for this study. By the process of read and re-read the transcripts, the study looked forward to seeing the similarities and differences of experience in the different contexts. Meanwhile, looked for the empirical discourses of the meaning transformation and the relationship extension of the plant itself from the horticultural experience. The results indicated that the experiential network through the interaction between individuals and plants not only presented the multiplicity of experiences and the pathway of meaning development, but also reflected the uniqueness and universality of the horticultural experience. While the horticultural experience constantly accumulated, plants broke through the restrictions under the material concept, and transformed into “special plants” with unusual emotions, relationships and meanings, even stabilized the relationships between individuals and others. After that, the healing experience from planting or horticultural activities was gradually generated in individuals’ world. By exploring the experience deeply, this study revealed a new sight of healing experience, and the intentionality of meaning from plants. Finally, based on the results and findings in this study, relevant suggestions were provided to future researches and practice.
