Summary: | 碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 諮商與臨床心理學系 === 107 === This study examines the relationship between gender role attitudes and marital attitudes among Taiwanese people by using the January 2011 data collected in the thirteenth-year project of the Panel Study of Family Dynamics (PSFD) under the Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences (RCHSS), Academia Sinica. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, two-way ANOVA, and canonical correlation analysis. The findings were as follows: (1) a traditional gender role attitude toward gender norms still exists in Taiwanese society; (2) Taiwanese peo-ple’s willingness to marry is more flexible and open than the evaluation of marital feelings and the parenting of marriage; (3) married people in Taiwan have a more traditional gender role at-titude than unmarried people do, and men more than women; (4) in all aspects of marital atti-tudes, married people in Taiwan are more concerned and persistent than unmarried people, and men more than women; (5) the more traditional a person’s gender role attitudes toward hierar-chy and division of labor are, the more concerned and persistent a person inclines about the necessity and parenting of marriage. Based on these findings and results, suggestions for practi-tioners in family education and marriage counseling as well as for the application of the data-base in future research are provided.
