Robert Johnson’s Jungian dream approach (1986) and semi-structured in-depth interview are the main method to explore the symbol within the dream and the experience of the couple. Thematic analysis is adopted to identify the themes within the context. The participants are a couple who are in college and having been in relationship with each other for 3 years. Three main results are showed as followed: 1. The individual Jungian dream approach helps individual connecting the dream series with their life experience, especially their early objective experience, and improving awareness of their inner negative complexes. 2. The couple project archetype onto each other including Anima/Animus and Shadow. Besides, the projection is the main cause of the recurrent patterns in couple’s relationship. 3. The negative complexes penetrate the relationship and become the main issue of the intimacy relationship. Yet intimacy relationship turns into a stressor for individual to engage their own individuation which then helps couple facing their unconscious common shadow. By turning the focus onto one’s own Shadow from the other’s, individuation is engaged and the stress within relationship is reduced. According to the results, three contributions of the research are identified: 1. Expanding the application of Jungian dream approach from individual to couple as the first Jungian dream research on couple in Taiwan. 2. Using empirical data to demonstrate the concept of how intimacy relationship form and develop in Jungian analytical psychology. 3. The relationship between individuation and intimacy relationship is clarified. Huang, Tsung-Chain 黃宗堅 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 170 zh-TW |
