For this factor, the permanent issue should be improved by the factory, and it may be a large percentage on maintenance cost. This thesis focuses on how to improve the filtering of harmonics in one technology factory. The factory has a high-voltage transformer from 22.8KV to 480V associating with a passive filtering system to collect power quality data via the electricity meters and derive filter design parameter. Through the theoretical formula, adjusting the resonance point can improve the filtering effect, also provide an feasible solution. In the factory, the harmonic filter is designed and provided by the supplier. The idea of the supplied harmonic filter is tendency on commercialization in order to assist the factory with declining capacitors replacement so that the resonant frequency of the filter banks may not amplify the harmonic and accelerate capacitor aging. Therefore, this project aims to calculate a suitable impedance for lasting capacitor life and lowering maintenance cost. In our study, we successfully promote a filter design that can stand for more capacitor aging from initial 1.5% to 5.4%. Furthermore, the service year will be increased from 1.5 year to 5 years, meaning that the capacitor can operate more than 150 thousands hours, as known the normal life span of a capacitor.
