Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 美術學系 === 107 === In the year of 21st century, the texts we encountered are rare in a singular form but presented in a multiple format by the wing of multimedia technology. They, such as Lady Gaga’s performance or music/video broadcast via stream technology on internet, integrate with visual images, music or sound. It is the trend of contemporary communication combined various symbolic systems into a text or a work that carry a rich intention. To read, see, or listen to kinds of works requires the audience apply not one approach of sense but several for the purpose of comprehensive understanding and echo. Postmodernism emphasizes the action of reading/understanding on the transaction between audience and text (works) which decrease role of text’s authority. Reader response theory suggests that reading is based on the position of reader taken rather than how the text presents and/or appears. We decode the symbols and construct meaning while we are reading that brings our experience and the value of aesthetic we hold. We make different understanding because we all have different context at the point of reading. What we bring in and reflect from is crucial. This presentation takes the concept of transactional theory to explore how we percept, recognize, link, and make sense of visual and auditory texts in the modern environment.
