In addition, the hero behind how to ensure the safety of railway staff is the railway safety professional. The main purpose of this research is to use AHP to construct the role and function mode of safety professional of Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA). Through the literature discussion, the 3 role facets and 9 functional dimensions of the safety professional are summarized, and the weight of each role facet and function dimension is calculated by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). In this research, the safety professional of TRA conducted a questionnaire survey, and a total of 13 questionnaires were collected. The results show that in terms of role facet, the order of importance is "Security Expert", "Security Coordinator" and "Security Controller" respectively, while in terms of functional dimension, the top 3 order of importance is "safety and health training, information and communication", "problem identification and analysis", "safety and health function management". Finally, the results of this research are discussed and the TRA is provided with reference to the appointment and task assignment of safety professional. In addition, this research uses Multiple Criteria Decision Making to construct evaluation model, and provides experts in various fields to evaluate the importance of role and function of safety professional by another set of decision evaluation methods.
