We propose a modification of the maximum likelihood estimation to reconstruct asymmetric networks without time series which termed generalized maximum likelihood estimation (GMLE). Such modification markedly improves the accuracy of the network topology when the network is asymmetric such as scale-free network. We compare different asymmetric network to illustrate the main results.
