Summary: | 碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 機械工程系所 === 107 === Drying is an essential process in the textile industry in terms of terminating the moisture content from the fibers and fabrics by means of a specified process. This study focuses on the development of an equation system concerned with energy balance in a cylinder drying process. After proposing the set of the equations numerical methods were employed to solve the system of equations. It was found that the step-wise interface temperature method can correctly predict the approximate trend of the temperature-time profile during the cylinder drying process. An effort was also made to throw some light on the effects of optimizing various parameters on which the cylinder drying process depends in order to avoid the potential hazards, namely ignition, and pyrolysis of fibers, during drying. It was found that the velocity of feed and cylinder operating temperature has a major effect on the drying process and has to be cumulatively optimized with other depending parameters in order to ensure a safe drying process. To be specific about the nature of my research, it mainly extends its focus on the phenomena of the drying process and the application of the theoretical mathematical models for solving complex and practical drying problems. An attempt has also been made to explain the nature of drying of various transport materials by some theoretical validations of fiber chemistry.
