| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 管理科學系所 === 107 === This paper focuses on investigating how balanced coopetition within strategic alliances impacts firm performance and knowledge utilization and its impact changing in difference technological competition context. By analyzing a sample based on 255 public firms in the U.S. semiconductor industry, the result shows that firm performance and knowledge utilization increase as firms with a strong-balanced inter-firm relationship of coopetition. This study further compares different types of semiconductor companies to understand the vendors in the supply chain of different professions, and how the partnerships affect firm performance. This study contributes to innovation literature and strategic alliance literature by showing the benefits of strategic alliances vary depending on the level of coopetition among alliance portfolios firm performance and knowledge utilization. This research also suggests managers to value the importance of balancing competition and coopetition in an alliance, in order to keep the firm competitive.
