The purposes are to understand the motivation and life satisfaction of hospital volunteers. To explore the difference of motivation and life satisfaction of hospital volunteers with different background variables. To explore the relationship between motivation of hospital volunteer participation and life satisfaction, and to analyze the predictive power of hospital volunteer participation motivation on life satisfaction. This research methods refers to the questionnaire compiled by relevant literature. The questionnaire contains basic background information, participation motivation scale and life satisfaction scale. A total of 300 copies had been sent out and 278 copies were received, with a responsed rate of 92.6%. The questionnaire was analyzed by SPSS19 software. The data were processed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-difference correlation and stepwise multiple regression. The main conclusions are as follows: 1. The degree of motivation of hospital volunteers for participation is good to excellent, and have a higher sense of "enriching life". 2. The degree of life satisfaction of hospital volunteers is good, and a higher level of self-concept. 3. Hospital volunteers’ age, education level, economic staus, health status, and years of volunteer service significantly influence their motivation of participation. 4. Hospital volunteers’ age, education level, economic staus, health status, and years of volunteer service significantly influence their life satisfaction. 5. Motivation participation and life satisfaction have positive correlation. 6. The motivation of hospital volunteers'participation significantly predict their life satisfaction, and "social contact and meaning of life" has the best predictive ability. Based on the results of the study, this research provides suggestions on hospital system, hospital supervision, hospital volunteers and future researchers.
