Summary: | 碩士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 公共行政與政策學系 === 107 === According to the statistics of the Ministry of the Interior in the past two decades, the number of new immigrants in Taiwan has gradually surpassed the aborigines and has risen to become the fourth-largest ethnic group in Taiwan. However, the difficulties that this group of new immigrants encountered in Taiwan are always hidden and unknown. Moreover, the women among the new immigrants of the remote areas in Nantou County, their living situations are even worse, which makes them begin to seek religious assistance. Under this circumstance, they aroused the concern of the religious people in the local area. The purpose of this study is to discuss how the “New Immigrants Caring Association in Nantou”, empowering the local new- immigrants, assisting local new immigrants to conduct empowerment action and what kind of perspective is used to provide services for new immigrants women, and the reasons why they can continue to exert influence in the rural areas.
Through the observational experience of the researchers themselves and the results of the interviews, it was found that the association provided the services to these females from new immigrants with the concept of “philosophical beliefs”. Therefore, the motivation for care is stronger and the assistance is more immediate. Additionally, the association serves as a platform to provide opportunities for these females to have hands-on experiences to effectively achieve self-empowerment. The reason why the association can continue to exert its influence in these rural areas is that the religious charismatic leaders unite the centripetal spirit of the association, which makes the members of the association have a strong sense of identity and belonging to the organization, and encourages the members of the association to actively participate in the society, which enables the social capital of the association to continue to expand and derive social effects.
