Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 科技藝術碩士學位學程 === 107 === The creation of this thesis is based on virtual reality combined with motion sensing technology. I try to create a grief emotional experience in the virtual reality space, and participant could interact with the visual content in the virtual reality through their body movements during the exhibition. At the same time, I would collect the body movement data from participant, and remap it to link the interactive projection device in the physic exhibition space, trying to let the participant shuttle between the subject and object perspective, and by virtual and the reality integration, I want to let the participant have a more complete and profound feeling of the overall narrative.
The Kubler-Ross Model is widely used in many creative method and is often referred to as the five stages of sadness. The model consists of five stages: “Denial”, “Anger”, “Negotiation”, “Despair” and “Acceptance”. This thesis will use this structure to create a five virtual reality space that is independent but blends with each other. In this virtual reality space, the whole surrounding is expression of the inner world of a depression person, and I would be used it as a metaphorical of Grief. The participant will be turning into a peeper next to the depression person in the space, and the space will be decorate with objects which could be interpreted as the different kind of emotion. These objects also part of the component of the main narrative and it would guiding the participant to explore. The participant will use the first-person perspective to peer into the various phenomena in the “five stages” and I hope to give the participant the most direct and unreserved sensory experience. At the same time, the interaction is also an important part of the experience. By capturing the action data of the participant, then I will use it as a trigger which could manipulate the visual elements both in the virtual reality space also physical world interactive projection content. By doing this, all the participant who are not wearing the virtual reality headset can also observe the experience process from the perspective of the outsider of the virtual reality, thereby I could have chance to connect two kind of participant to achieve a more complete experiment spatial experience. Through document the process of merging the virtual reality and motion sensing technology, it could be the a reference for related project.
