Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立勤益科技大學 === 工業工程與管理系 === 107 === With increasing competition between global industries and quick changes in industrial structures, traditional industries essentially require product research and development (R&D) engineer to enhance their competitive advantages. However, the competences that such personnel must gain to help companies improve their productivity and competitiveness remain uncertain. This study recruited R&D engineer in traditional industries as research participants to identify necessary competences. A survey with open-ended questions and a literature review were conducted to determine the competences of the R&D engineer. After processing the collected data, the identified 31 competences were divided into four categories, namely knowledge, engineering-skill, management-skill, and attitude related competences. Subsequently, a questionnaire survey was employed, of which the results were processed using SPSS 21. Furthermore, importance–performance analysis was conducted to determine the core competences that R&D engineer in traditional manufacturing must improve as well as the most crucial and necessary competences that they must gain. The findings of this study serve as references for manufacturing businesses to recruit suitable employees as well as for training units to design training programs. Core competences can be then established to develop excellent R&D engineer.
