碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 科技管理研究所 === 107 === To investigate how professional sports experience of top executives and the management teams affect firm innovation performance, we draw upon the user innovation literature and the upper echelon theory, which underpins our theorization and analysis. The upper echelons model’s dual role as both a theoretical framework and a research methodology suggest that top executives at the strategic level in the firm likely have a pivotal influence on specific performance outcomes of the firm. Our findings suggest that specific background of top executives affects firm innovation performance and sports expertise moderates the relationship.
