Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 環境工程學系所 === 107 === Taichung Power Plant uses coal as fuel and emits a large amount of air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOX), sulfur oxide (SOX), particulate matter (PM10) and fine particulate matter (PM2.5). The objective of this study is to investigate the impacts of air pollutants emitted by Taichung Power Plant on air quality in central Taiwan. The Gaussian smoke flow trajectory model is employed to simulate the trajectory of emissions form Taichung Power Plant. Totally 11 air quality monitoring stations, in Taichung, Changhua and Nantou, along the emission trajectory path were screen out for investigation. Correlation analysis was employed to evaluate the relations between operation ratios of Taichung Power Plant and air pollutant concentrations monitored by the air quality monitoring stations. The results may provide preliminary judgement of the impacts of Taichung Power Plant emissions on air quality in central Taiwan. The correlation analysis results among the 169 qualified data indicated that the relationships between Taichung Power Plant operation ratios and air pollutant concentrations monitored are among "almost no correlated" and "weakly correlated". The results show that there is no significant correlation between Taichung Power Plant emissions and air quality in Taichung, Changhua and Nantou. However, this study only investigated the correlations between emissions of Taichung Power Plant and the air qulatity data of monitoring stations. There are still several important factors not considered, such as secondary pollutants, emission sources along the trajectory, meteorological conditions, etc. Therefore, more robust investigation are necessary to more accurately evaluate the impacts of the air pollution emissions of Taichung Power Plant on the air quality.
