Summary: | 碩士 === 國立政治大學 === 圖書資訊學數位碩士在職專班 === 107 === The Chinese language learning boom has sprouted since the 1950s and has swept the world in the last two decades. Mainland China and Taiwan use Chinese as their first language. The government is facing the vast teaching market of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and actively cultivating and sending teachers to all parts of the world. The research on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language is increasing. This study uses bibliometrics and citation literature analysis, using Taiwan National Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, Taiwan Citation Index - Humanities and Social Sciences, and China Journal Full-text Database, China Doctoral Dissertations/Maters’ Theses Full-text Database. The literature explores the situation of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language journals in China and Taiwan, the academic communication of the master's thesis and the citation of the literature, and further understands the development trend of the literature in the Chinese language teaching field.
The major result of the research induct as below: (1) Taiwan's Chinese teaching master's thesis has increased gradually since 2000, and the Taiwan Normal University is the university with the most statistics published in the master's thesis. In the early stages, the development of the master's thesis in mainland China was slow, and more than 1,000 articles were published every year after 2010. Among them, Jilin University is the most published university in the master's thesis. (2) The peak period for the publication of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language journal from 2011 to 2016, Taiwan's “World of Chinese Language " ranks first in publishing statistics, high cited The journal is "Studies of the Chinese Language ." Before 1999, mainland China limited by the CNKI database policy, the thesis was less included, and the result of published the most and high-cited journals was “Chinese Teaching in the World.”
(3) The trend of the master's thesis on Taiwan and mainland China is similar to that of the ups and downs and has a significant correlation with the promotion of the national education policy. In 2014, there was a significant downward trend, which was speculated to be related to the Confucius Institutes Controversies and the Anti-Chinese protests in Vietnam. The decline of national identity in China influence people learning Chinese language motivations. (4) In 2014, Taiwan and mainland China journal publishing trends beginning to decline slightly, does it mean that teaching Chinese language has reached saturation in 2014 and 2015? Or is there a recession in the field? It still takes a little time to observe. (5) Taiwan prefers to use mainland China publishing journals and literature on citations. (6) Taiwan and mainland China have high repetitive cited works. (7)The universities often use the respective domestic doctoral and master's thesis for reference. (8) The current themes of Taiwan and mainland China concern are curriculum mapping and teaching method (B) and second language acquisition (D).
Based on the research results, this study proposes the following suggestions:
(1) Database improvement can benefit relevant researchers.
(2) Keyword selection strategy or search by Chinese book classification.
(3) Data integrity and standardization of citation formats.
(4) Converging expert opinions to set the theme of the Chinese language teaching field.
