To explore how Wangxiang occurs, the theory of metaphorical cognition and the path of Shentigan are employed as the theoretical approach. The research questions revolve around how people perceive through Shentigan categories of “Fu” and how to cultivate its relevant body technique. To examine these research questions, this study recruited fujoshi as main participants for focus group interview and teaching workshops. This study suggests that Wangxiang is not an operation of symbols. Rather, it is a physical and mental experience built upon physical perception. The experience of Wangxiang can be considered as an experience of people perceiving Wangxiang objectives through the Shentigan category of "Fu". It involves, mainly, the perception of visual senses, concomitant with auditory senses and the linkage and collaboration of the whole body. Each Shentigan category involves a set of body techniques that emerges from its cultural background. The body technique of "Fu" discussed in this study is confined to the technique of identification - the technique of discovering the “love between men” through the senses of seeing and listening. This technique of identification is built upon inclination for love and particularly male-male love. Boy’s Love works is an essential part of the cultivation of the technique. To train this technique, people should also circumscribe the scope of friend interaction between men and expand the scope of love interaction by taking advantage of men’s social norms. In addition, people need to establish their own "loveliness database". More over, there is a possibility that “prettiness” is a prerequisite of identification. This study also found that there are elements of imagination and creation exist in the identification technique, thus Wangxiang cannot be taken as a dichotomy of “interpretation” and “creation”.
