Description
Summary:碩士 === 明志科技大學 === 工業工程與管理系碩士班 === 107 === Abstract This study employed the Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire (NMQ) and Rapid upper limb assessment (RULA) to explore the work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) of dentists in the northern Taiwan. A total of 60 questionnaires were distributed and 57 of which were valid, with an effective rate of 95%. Results showed that the prevalence of discomfort in any body part within one-year of the dentists was 74.5%, and the discomfort in shoulders was the highest (66.6%), followed by the neck (59.6%), the lower back/waist (54.4%), the upper back (45.6%), and the wrists (30.4%). Among them, the discomforts in shoulders and low back/waist were influenced by the job tenure (>10 years) and the average time to treat an outpatient (>20 min), whereas the discomforts in shoulders and neck were also influence by the number of clinics per day (>2) and the sleeping time (<6 hours). The RULA results showed that the dental task (score 7) needs to be “further investigate and implement change”, and the oral examination (score 6) and root canal treatment (score 5) need to be “further investigation, change soon”. In summary, that the discomforts in shoulders, neck, and back for the dentists were relatively significant may be attributed to the long-period sitting posture and the highly frequent activity in upper extremities during their daily work. The findings of the study can be served as a reference for preventing the WMSDs of dentists. Keywords: Dentist, WMSDs, NMQ, Risk factors.
