In particular, self-care for diabetes is an essential part of controlling disease and improving the quality of life among patients with T2DM. Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore factors related to self-care behaviors and the quality of life in T2DM patients to design effective interventions. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive, correlative was carried out to answer the research phenomena during July 2018 to May 2019. One hundred and ten patients with T2DM from the Thu Duc General Hospital were fixing sampling chosen and completed interviews with a structured questionnaire, including three parts: Characteristic of patients, self-care behaviors (SDSCA), quality of life (WHOQOL BREF). Results: (1) The T2DM patients had a middle level of self-care behaviors and a middle level of quality of life. (2) Year of birth, drinking, education, duration of diabetes, and HbA1C were major predicting factor of self-care behaviors. Marital status, economic status, education and self-care behaviors were four significant factors in predicting quality of life. (3) There were significantly positive correlation between self-care behaviors and quality of life. (4) Education, marital status, economic status, self-care behaviors predicted 35% of the variance in quality of life. Conclusion: The findings indicated a theoretical basis to direct the development of appropriate health programs and interventions for improving QOL in people with T2DM, so the nurses need to pay more attention to quality of life among patients with T2DM and its influencing factors.
