Description
Summary:碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 應用英語學系碩士班 === 107 === Enhancing teachers’ competence and knowledge has become significant in Taiwan’s English Teacher Education Program. It is important that EFL teachers recognize what their roles are in the teaching of language as a Foreign Language. The purpose of the study is to investigate the student teachers’ perception of their roles in the teaching context. A questionnaire was adapted from the European Portfolio for Student Teachers of English (2007) to explore both the role of the language teachers and the preparation in teaching for the student teachers. The study had been piloted (Cronbach’s α= .910) to enhance what student teachers had learned from their practicum experience. In the relation to teaching preparation, necessary knowledge, and instruction strategies are important. Hence, the purposes of this current study are: (1) How do student teachers perceive their roles as a language teacher? (2) How do student teachers assess their preparation in teaching of language skills? (3) How do student teachers assess their preparation in the teaching of culture? The results of the research suggest that student teachers should assess their teaching competences in terms of teaching preparation. Furthermore, student teachers should consistently review and monitor their teaching quality even after they become real teachers in the future.
