Description
Summary:碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 資訊工程學系碩士班 === 107 === ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol) is one of the core communication protocols of the Internet and it can be used as an Internet connectivity test. In 1983, a ping program using ICMP for network connectivity testing was developed. Ping to measure the network. However, as information security issues are gradually being focus, more and more domains will block or disabled ICMP, and therefore the continued use of ICMP as a network measurement protocol has become a major challenge. In this study, we will discuss whether ICMP can continue to be an protocol for network connectivity testing and whether other protocols can be used as Internet connectivity tests. Considering that ICMP is also often used as a measure of the round-trip time of network link, we will discuss whether other network protocols can be used as a measure of the round-trip time of network links. The results show that it is difficult to continue to use ICMP as a protocol for network connectivity testing. In this case, multi-layer network protocols can be used as network connectivity tests and network link round-trip time measurements.
