Study on the Impact of Economic Growth in Mainland China on Taiwan's Export Industries

碩士 === 嶺東科技大學 === 財政系財稅與會計資訊碩士班 === 107 === In recent years, the economic addition of Mainland China has developed rapidly and China has gradually played a key role of global economic growth. Taiwan is an export-oriented country, its economic development is highly dependent on international trade, and China plays the largest part, accounts for about 40% of Taiwan's exports. China's economy fluctuation will inevitably has impact on Taiwan's exports. This study uses Gravity model to explore the impact of China's economic growth on Taiwan's top 10 export Industries to China (including Hong Kong), from 2001 to 2018. China’s gross domestic product (GDP), Taiwan's GDP, China's GDP per capita, and China's population, China’s consumer price Index, China’s economic year-on-year growth rate are used as independent variables in the study. The empirical results show: China's GDP per capita seems had a positive impact on the export values of Taiwan's chemical products, plastics and rubber and related products, non-metals mineral products and jewelry and precious metal products. However, China’s GDP seems bring negative effect on Taiwan's export values of chemical products, plastics and rubber and related products, textiles, non-metals mineral products, jewelry and precious metal products. In addition, China’s population seems had a negative impact on the export values of Taiwan's mineral products and jewelry and precious metal products.
