It is also a high-reliability training process. Use the US Air Force as an example, there is an average of 30% wash out rate for pilot training. That means around 2000 trainees do not pass the flight training and about 30 to 48 million USD extra training fund spent. Also, for the High-Reliability Occupations, individuals with specific personalities like high pressure tolerance, high decision-making quality, good leadership, high organizing/planning capability, high motivation/analyzing capability, emotional stable, and good resolution are more qualified for these kinds of occupations. According to the previous literature, a prediction model was established by applying Youth Aptitude Test, Non-Verbal Test, Collegiate Personality Test, Cattell Sixteen Personality Factors Questionnaire and Seven Types Motor Skill Measurement on new trainees from a Taiwan Flight Training School, and utilizing Logistic Regression Analysis Method to predict a new trainee will success or fail the Flight Training. The accuracy rates of the Prediction Model on the Preliminary, Basic and Advanced Training Phase are 69.4%, 63.7% and 69.9% respectively. Basing on the foundation laid by the above-mentioned study, this research studies the six potential tests (Mechanical Inference, Grammar Test, Cattell Sixteen Personality Factors Questionnaire, Hands Coordination, Handling Judgement and Distinguishing Reaction), analyzes the results from each test and compares with the trainees’ flying performance in a Taiwan Flight Training School. The result of the analysis could be used to preliminarily describe the psychological characteristics required for aviation trainees to pass the flight training. The trainees’ training process and allocation could be better planned. Summarize the training results from the three training phases, the Preliminary, Basic and Advanced Flight Training. The results are then categorized into pass, fail due to performance, fail due to physical condition, fail due to moral character, and fail due to academics. Among the total 1762 research samples, there are 1112 samples passed the Preliminary Flight Training, 319 samples failed due to performance, 132 samples are ground staffs as control group and 199 samples are failed for other reasons. This research establishes a regular model of ten-degree scale psychological test which could help to improve the training and screening process of future training. Under the harsh environment of recruiting potential aviators, the application of psychological evaluation should lean to a more flexible aspect. In summary, this research result shows applying only Hands Coordination Test on trainees could effectively predict their performance in the three Flight Training Phases.
