The variables include student backgrounds, new arrivals, principal in-class storytelling, homeroom teacher influences. The instruments are the questionnaire and library circulation data. The participants are students from first grade to sixth grade in an elementary school in Taichung, Taiwan. The collected data were processed by SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science). Descriptive statistics, reliability analysis,Chi-square test and library circulation data were used to analyze and explain the research. Significant differences were found in check-out amounts between gender, grade, frequency of entering the library, preference degree of reading, and when students begin using electronic devices. Also, there are significant differences between English book check-out amounts in gender and grade. However, there is no significant difference in check-out amounts between electronic devices use frequency. There are significant differences between check-out amounts and new arrivals. The value for lower graders is greater than the value for the value for middle graders, and the value for middle graders is higher than the value for higher graders. Besides, significant differences are also found between check-out amounts and principal in-class storytelling. Again, the value for lower graders is greater than the value for the value for middle graders, and the value for middle graders is higher than the value for higher graders. Last but not least, there are significant differences between check-out amounts and homeroom teacher influences. The results indicate that the three above variables offer positive effects to check-out amounts HSU, JUNG-LUNG 許榮隆 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 73 zh-TW
