Summary: | 碩士 === 開南大學 === 觀光運輸學院碩士班 === 107 === The geography of Taiwan is surrounded by the sea, which makes the country ideal for export direction and import substitution. In the global market, Taiwan relies highly on international trade to maintain economic development. Northern Taiwan is not only the region with the most vigorous consuming power but also the advantage of being near Taipei port, Keelung port, and the international airport. Moreover, the region is a technological and national priority indicator representing Taiwan. As a result, different types of warehousing and logistics services are based in northern Taiwan, and such warehouse operations are the focus of the analysis and consideration of users when selecting warehouse locations. The free trade port in Northern Taiwan started as warehouse storage and cargo transport and evolved to its current services of bonded warehouses, third-party logistics, and logistics centers in recent years. With the changing of the times, this free trade port adopted by the government has carried out different practices and uses in function and processing to attract foreign investment to Taiwan and meet the requirements of different customers as it followed the trend of industrial transformation.
This research applied the qualitative method by using six cases of warehouse storage, distribution center, bonded warehouse, logistics center, free trade zone, and third-party logistics. Warehouse logistics will mainly be classified by the scale of the company, different customer types, and product attribute required by different product operating models. This study is based on the actual cases of Hiyes Logistics Corporation (Wugu District), Bausan Logistics (Nan Shan District), Best Logistics (Dah Yuan District), UPS (Nankan District), KWE (Farglory F.T.Z), and LF Logistics (Datong District). It will illustrate the consideration and the benefits of various types of warehousing logistics.
Under the rapid development of international trade, to attract foreign investments to Taiwan and increase its overall economy, the government provides preferential treatment for the processing of re-export or value-added services as well as the active development of domestic sales. Warehouse operations, according to the case study of Bausan Logistics (Nan Shan District), mainly import the cargo and sell it to the domestic market. It provides cold-chain management services to store coffee beans. Hiyes Logistics Corporation (Wugu District) has similar services as HCT and KTJ; it offers cargo transport and distribution in the domestic market. Best Logistics (Dah Yuan District) mainly imports cans of beer, handles the product rework, and finally delivers to all major stores, such as convenient stores or supermarkets. UPS (Nankan District) serves as the Asia hub for its biggest customer, a Singaporean company that supplies materials. The UPS warehouse handles the VAS and distributes to Asian countries. It is located only 20 minutes away from the international airport and is beside the highway. KWE (Farglory F.T.Z) mainly exports English-language books to developed countries in Asia; its free-trade zone has different functions as a logistics center. LF Logistics (Datong District) is a third-party logistics firm that designs customized services for the industries. The main purpose of warehouse logistics is to affect the product processing, distribution, and operation as well as customize service according to the demand of industrial quality and consumption.
