Mental state changing leads to deteriorations both in physical strength and mental capabilities, including most of the dementia and cognitive functions. At present, the residents over 65 years old are the majority in the long-term centers. Studies have found that the proportion of patients with mild cognitive impairment above 65 years of age who have not reached the diagnosis of dementia is about 13-15%. Therefore, long-term center care for elderly residents involving in the Taiwan version of cognitive stimulation therapy(CST-T) for cognitive status and debilitating state is worthy of discussion. Purpose: This intervention study purpose of this research was to evaluate the effects of interventional CST-T on cognitive status and frailty status of elderly residents in long-term care centers. Methods: This study used an interventional study to repeat measurements in a single group. Weekly CST-T measures for three long-term facilities in Kaohsiung area for 12 weeks. The study object is convenient for sampling. Research tool use mini-mental state examination(MMSE), Edmonton frail scale(EFS) and electronic grip measuring facilities for hand grip test. Analysis: The test was performed after intervention in the first week, the eighth week and the 12th week. The SPSS 22.0 for windows was used to analyze the data. Analysis of cognitive status , frailty status, and hand grip tests for 12-week interventions. Result:The MMSE progress score of the CTS-T after 12 weeks was 1.14 points, significantly different from the previous test (p<.001). Frailty status decreased by 0.66 points compared to the 12th week. In the 12th week of the left hand, the left hand grip increased by 1.26 kg (p=.40); the right hand grip strength of the 12th week of the right hand increased by 0.50 kg (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The CST-T is operated by long-term care centers are easy to plan and operate in current situation . CST-T will not burden the heavy clinical care work and intervention process. The case reaction is positive, which can improve the overall care quality in the clinical care.
